I spent the summer and winter of 2023 where I learned to blend my design skills in product interfaces (UI/UX) and brand identity (colors, fonts, and more).

Wellth's focus is centered around improving health outcomes causing the user demographic to be above 50. Navigating the health-tech world and shifting my focus to a foreign persona allowed me to investigate unique solutions to unique problems.
By utilizing user-centered design practices I used Figma to create design solutions for internal-use product areas.
I also worked with PMs and shadowed employees to learn more about our existing systems. Furthermore, I iterated over solutions and presented to stakeholders.
I made updates and contributed to the development of a design system. Furthermore, I contributed to core branding such as marketing materials, logo updates, and more.
I led several graphic design projects which were both customer facings (B2B) and member facing. Some examples include member-facing emails, video testimonials, print, packaging, and merch.
The enrollment form is used to convert prospects into members by enrollment specialists. By identifying pain points and shadowing the onboarding process, I was able to focus on enhancing productivity and employee satisfaction.
I was assigned this project because I expressed I wanted to learn to enhance user engagement and satisfaction beyond aesthetics.
I created a box design for internal customers. Each box was personalized with a special message.
I created celebrated users by honoring different milestones or achievements throughout the year making them feel like they’re a part of the Wellth community. It was driven by an emotional desire to connect with your customers and employees by entertaining, delighting, and expressing gratitude.
We reached Louisiana Wellcare members to celebrate their new enrollments through flyers and merch! To accompany their new hat during the summertime, I designed a flyer.
I could never have imagined how much I would learn, grow, and absorb these past few months. Despite the internship being mostly virtual, I still had so many great chances to work with amazing designers and make connections with them. Here are some of the biggest takeaways.
Features that attempt redesigns from an already existing version might be more intuitive and useful however, changing a process that has been established will be met with opposition. Each change should be paired with a metric and concrete reasoning. I learned to embrace ambiguity and to be curious.
This internship took the emphasis away from visual and aesthetic purposes of UX. Instead it prioritized how information could be intuitively displayed. This meant I had the opportunity to do everything from holding feedback sessions, shadowing agents, and more. I truly enjoyed learning about the healthcare industry which opened a new possibility.
